But finding the right speaker is not an easy task to do. It's very crucial that the keynote speaker should be suitable for the event. So how does one look for the right keynote speaker?
Looking for the right keynote speaker is a difficult task especially if the topic that should be discussed has a focus or a theme. This means that the keynote speaker needs to have more than enough experience to discuss a particular subject. Keynote speakers should also establish themselves as true "experts" in their fields so that the audience will listen to them.
The next thing that should be done is to determine the topic that needs to be discussed. What will be the event about? Who are the audience? Is the talk aimed to increase company productivity? The more knowledgeable the speaker about the subject is, the better it is. That's why it pays to be extra careful when choosing the right speaker.
As example, a talk that will concentrate on financial management must feature a speaker who has a wide knowledge and first-hand experience on financial planning and money management. It works the same if an event involves motivating college students who are about to take the great leap of faith into the real world, then the best way is to get a keynote speaker who can encourage them to make solid plans as soon as possible, set them in the right direction, and present to them the right perspective.
Another thing to consider is the skill of the speaker. A keynote speaker should know how to connect to the audience and make them listen. It doesn't follow, for example, that just because the "speaker" is a public figure (a famous actress perhaps or some other person with big name), that he/she has an automatic knack to stir an audience and trigger their emotional buttons. For these situations, the wisest thing to do, perhaps, is to at least listen to a previous talk by the speaker or at least research about his or her manner of speaking before considering himher. This way, an organizer will know if he/she is any good or if he/she is suited for the event.
Once an organizer finally have the best person for the event, the next thing to ask from the speaker is to ask for an outline of his/her speech or at least a synopsis of his/her topic. By this, organizers will have a grasp of the topic during the open forum part of the talk or if inviting guests to the event. This will prevent the whole event from being a failed event and would guarantee the event to be a memorable one, both for the keynote speaker and the audience..
