Successful Entrepreneurs: Can They Make You One of Them?
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
If you are a novice in an enterprise like Internet marketing, it is a good idea to have someone show you the ropes - perhaps one of those successful entrepreneurs who knows what he or she is talking about. But finding someone who is probably more successful in selling just the idea of success to you, as opposed to any actual, useful, and practical knowledge doesn't really qualify as teaching.
That is why teaching is - and should always be - a respected career.
The Teacher
"Those who can't do, teach." An adage that you have probably heard at some time, or another. This is an adage that can sometimes be true, although it does underestimate the complex skill needed to teach something to someone.
On the other hand, there is also the idea that those who CAN actually do will not make effective teachers. This is because they know their craft so well and use it successfully on a regular basis that it's almost impossible to teach the same skills to someone else and expect the same results.
Be Cautious
While finding Mr. Right, you have probably been flooded with ads about how to be among the world's top earners. Before you believe these ads, however, here are a few tips to help you find the real deal:
1. If you have a history with this guru, look back and analyze to determine if you do have a future together. If not, ask around and see how other students have fared with him.
2. Find out what you do need to know, and determine if this guru seems like a credible source for that knowledge.
3. If the mentor is more focused on selling you something, consider that a red flag. No mentor can give you a 100 percent guarantee of success, but he should be able to give you a safe estimate on your success rate. He should teach you the ways of the successful entrepreneurs.
4. Find someone you can trust enough to build a relationship with. Like all relationships, you have to be compatible, both in goals and even budget. There are successful entrepreneurs who are trustworthy enough, so hold on to a gem when you are lucky enough to find one. Hopefully, they'll be able to show you the way of the successful entrepreneurs.
