The main ingredients that you will need to make soap are lye and oils. You may also need tools such as mixing equipment, bowls, molds and knives. You can already make the most basic type of soap with just these tools and ingredients.
Aside from these basic ingredients, you may also want to add other ingredients such as dyes and fragrant oils to add to the appeal of your soap. You may also want to use herbal leaves to give your soap a therapeutic property. Varying the type of oil that you use will also alter the basic properties of your soap.

There are two methods that you can try when making soap, the hot process and the cold process. The entire process will not take more than an hour and after this, you will just be waiting for your soap to harden in their molds.
Due to the ease of soap making, even small children can take this up as a hobby. Glycerin soap is already prepared and children will not have to handle lye which is very dangerous especially without adult supervision.
This hobby will help stimulate the creativity of children similar to other arts and crafts activities. This is a good way to spend their time which allows them to work with their hands instead of always staying in front of the television. This will also make them think of creative ways to design their soap. Using their soap afterwards may also be enjoyable for them.
After making your soap, the most obvious thing to do with them next is use them in the bathroom. But aside from this, you may also want to just use them as bathroom decors especially if you were able to make a great design. These are also great as gifts or you may want to sell them if you become really great at making them.
Soap making is a very easy and practical hobby that is really worth trying. It won't take a lot of time to do so if you didn't enjoy it, you may move on to try other hobbies. But if you really enjoyed making soap, it is a hobby that would keep you busy for a very long time.
