Your Kid's Bedroom Decor

When it comes to decorating rooms one of the most fun places that you will decorate will be your child's room. This is because they are usually so easy to decorate for and if your child is old enough you can include them in the project. Letting your child be creative is a great way to let them help with the theme of their room.
Paint or Wallpaper- When it comes to the walls of a child's room, one of the most important things to remember is to choose either paint or wall covering that is washable and durable. This may not be so important for an older child but it certainly is for those that are younger. There are several types of paint available that are washable. You can also find wall paper and other coverings that can be scrubbed if needed. This will help keep the room looking fresh and clean longer than a traditional paint.
Floor Coverings- While a thick, plush Berber carpet would be a great choice for an adult's room, you probably want a carpet that is more "kid-friendly." Consider a very low pile carpet, as it's much easier to roll a toy truck across this type than those carpets that are thick and full. If you have hard wood floors, consider adding an area rug. There are many choices for kid's area rugs that can easily compliment a bedding set or wallpaper border. Some even have a game on the rug, such as a racetrack or a barnyard. These area rugs can provide many hours of play for a child.
Bedding Sets- One of the biggest mistakes a parent makes in choosing a bedding set for a child is purchasing one that will go from favorite to fad in a very short period of time. Even though your child may love Dora the Explorer or Scooby Doo now, in three months, there maybe a new cartoon character that is their favorite. Try to stick with something that is somewhat neutral if you think your child will like something different in the near future.
Buy a nice lamp, and other pieces of furniture or accessories to place into the child's room. Make sure that they are helping you pick out these items too. Another great idea is to have your child draw some artwork and hang that in a frame on the wall!
When you go to redecorate your child's room make sure you include them in the project. This is a great way to have your child use their imagination and creativity. Don't forget to try and get some items that are simple colors so that they can be keeping a longer time in the room through years of changes!
