7 Key Thoughts on Internet Home Business, EBay, and Product Sourcing

Tip #1
Sites like doba.com, dropshipdesign.com and so forth, are not true wholesale sites. These are essentially retail sites offering steeply discounted goods. They are legitimate and make it easy to start selling online, but are they best for eBay? In my opinion, your chances for success with this particular model will generally be greater if you pursue an independent ecommerce option.
Tip #2
One of the keys to product sourcing, especially where the small home business is concerned, is finding an untapped niche market. By small home business, I'm really talking about the population of work-at-home folks trying to make an extra buck (or maybe a lot more) in their spare time. If you are a student, stay-at-home mom, or one of the many people recently suffering from "work reduction" due to the economy, then this includes you.
Tip #3
Assuming that you have your product or products, supply sources, and your website designed and coded or otherwise figured out, it is now time to work the search engines into your marketing plan. There really is no one-size-fits all template for search engine optimization (SEO), and there can be numerous aspects to take into consideration when designing an overall approach. However, there are some basic strategies and principles common to all SEO approaches. These include what we call on-page and off-page optimization.
Tip #4
The fact of the matter is that on eBay you can sell virtually any product. And although you could probably find someone who would buy your fingernails, that's not really the issue. You don't want to sell just any product; you want to sell what you can consistently earn a profit. Many people starting out on eBay want to sell cool items such as DVDs or the latest electronic gadget, but this is not generally the best way to break into eBay if you are starting from scratch.
Tip #5
If you are just starting out, the first thing you must know is that legitimate wholesale DVDs--even though they are wholesale--are expensive. That means, for example, that you really can't buy brand new releases--non counterfeit releases--of box office hits for $2, $3, or even $5. I know that this contradicts the low cost that you see on eBay and with Amazon merchants. $2 and $5 and far less may be accurate for lower demand older movies, or liquidated stock you buy in bulk quantities.
Tip #6
The secret of eBay power sellers and eBay "wholesale" product sourcing is the acquisition of low cost goods. By "low cost," we mean prices below wholesale. The real secret, the naked and unadorned secret to this is buying in bulk quantities. The larger the bulk, the better because the greater the quantity, the lower the price. Not everyone can buy in bulk, however, and we actually have a solution for you in the resource box at the end of the article. First, though, we have promised to tell you why it is that drop shipping may ruin your eBay business.
Tip #7
One key factor that will contribute to the success of your ecommerce, home business site is traffic. Product sourcing alone is not enough. Although there are numerous ways to develop a flow of traffic, if you cannot get potential customers interested in your products to your site, you will not make money. In other words you need targeted traffic. Possibly the most economical traffic development tool at your disposal is the search engines--Google, Yahoo!, and Bing, to name the big three. I'm not suggesting that the search engines be your only strategy for bringing people to your site, but with proper consideration, the search engines can be harnessed to work very well in your favor.
