Go to: Previous Article Next Article
With so many different beat making software available online today, it's difficult to know which ones are quality and which ones are just trash. I've assembled a list of characteristics which should tell you what program is worthy of your time and which one's not.
High price does not always equal surperior quality.
Don't be suckered into thinking that only the programs that cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars are necessarily the better fit for you. There's also a long list of features included in them that most people never use at all. Most folks don't know this, but the less-expensive programs tend to have all the features that most folks will need. Software is not something that should cause you to be late on your car payment.
Large Sound Library
When you make beats, it's important that you have many different sounds to choose from so you can make exactly what it is that you're thinking. A really great beat making program always includes many different sounds and instruments that you can use right out of the box.
File Formats for Saving Beats
I had to find out the hard way, that every beat making software doesn't permit you to save your beats as mp3s. As many of you reading already realize, mp3s are a very common file format and is a necessity for beat makers that want their music to be heard. Saving in other formats like .wav is an added plus, but saving as an mp3 is totally vital.
Simple is Almost Always Better
This fact cannot be emphasized enough because this is what will decide how productive you are and how many beats you make. Convoluted programs have a steep learning curve, which causes you to throw away more time learning than creating music.
But, if you follow this guide and look for these characteristics, you'll have yourself a good beat making software on your hands. Low price, huge sound library, user-friendly interface, and allows you to save your beats as mp3s. Follow these simple steps, and you'll be good as gold.
