Seattle is the biggest town in The Pacific Northwest and in the whole state of Washington. It is getting it name after Chief Sealth who helped mend the problems between whites and the local tribes. Seattle has been given many nicknames including the most well-liked one The Emerald Town.
The town is actually a green gem. It has an abundance of evergreen trees all across the city and has an amazing view of both the Olympic and Cascade Mountains. The people of Seattle or Seattleites as they've come to be known love the outdoors mainly thanks to the sheer beauty of it all.
Seattle is home to major companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Starbucks. That's the reason why the town has such a name for heavy coffee consumption!
Seattle is found on the shore of the stunning Elliot Bay. You can also see the snowy top of Mount Rainier in the distance. Seattle has a gorgeous setting, with a modern skyline of glass skyscrapers, friendly folk, cool places to hang out at, top notch restaurants and clubs.
Seattle was initially located on Alki Point, but due to a flood it had to be moved. Alki Point is now the suburb of West Seattle. In the 1850s it was moved to it's current location in Pioneer Square. It was renamed after Indigenous American Chief Sealth, who helped reduce violent tensions between whites and the local tribes.
Seattle grew slowly until the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897 put it on the nation's map as a transport and commercial hub. Ever since the start of the 20th century, the Boeing Firm has been a crucial part in the towns industrial strength. Major firms such as Amazon, Starbucks and Microsoft have also been crucial to the towns growth.
Despite all of the changes to the city due to it's business growth, it's more established neighborhoods still remain unique and have a nice grounded feel. You might either come in the summertime when plenty of the visitors come or visit anytime from October to May when tourism is slow.
It is among the oldest public farmers' markets in the United States. If you're into sports Seattle is home to some well known teams e. G the Mariners, Thunderbirds, Seahawks, Sounders and Storm. If you are like the neighbors and experience the out of doors there are numerous activities to make a choice from. You could take a swim, sailing, rock climbing, kayaking, boarding, hiking, skiing and plenty more! You need to also check out Discovery Park, which is the largest park in Seattle.
I was a giant Seattle Supersonics fan back in the day and to go to just brought back so many memories of my youth. We manifestly made a trip to the Space Needle. It fully lived up to all the hype behind it. We even stayed in a room at a hotel that had a view of it.
You don't have to stress about getting around in this town because of all of the superb types of transport. The hostels here are also splendid and affordable. With all these things Seattle has to offer it is simply one of the top towns in the united states.
